MOON
Moon is a contemporary take on a classic retro sneaker with an emphasis on using premium materials inspired by original icons. The outsole is characterized by a polished cut-away spoiler underneath the medial arch. The deconstructed upper features a Japanese satin nylon and soft Italian suede material combination. The Moon arrives in a high and low-top construction.
The original concept for the sneaker was called the “Egg”. Derived from the photoshop mash-up of various vintage running shoes shown below, the idea was to have a flat and low die-cut EVA foam midsole with an exaggeratedly wide lateral outsole.
The direction was ultimately shifted from the "Egg" concept to an outsole and silhouette closer to the original Nike Waffle Racer.
MEMPHIS
Memphis is an elongated formal shoe characterized by a metal island heel and an elegant and pointy-toe last. The original upper is a mid-height angled Chelsea with a double stitched moccasin construction. Other upper variations include a high chelsea, slingback, and woven sandal.
Memphis defined the elongated and pointy shoe shift in Jil Sander's men's aesthetic vision. The last and structure served as the base and starting point for countless experiments and several other completed projects.
ROK
Rok is a cuoio platform formal shoe with injected rubber forefoot and heel outsole islands. The last is characterized by a thin waist, an emphasized forefoot, and a sharp, angled toe.
The project was initially launched before my arrival. I contributed to the sole and last development, and upper design (loafer, woven sandal, high boot).
HYBRID
The hybrid is a functional outdoor boot for the Jil Sander Plus collection. It features a flexible leather wrapped midsole with a rugged rubber and Arctic Grip Vibram outsole. Uppers include a classic chelsea, an under-knee tubo boot, and a lace-up hiking boot.
The project was initially launched before my arrival. I contributed to sole design and development, and upper design.
